 VISIONS AND VOICES @ USC

 April 25th, 2012 7:30pm Bovard Auditorium

 “From Poem to Stage” a special event featuring The Face by Donald Crockett  presented by USC's "Visions and Voices" artist series at Bovard Auditorium, USC.  The performance features cast members: Daniel Norman - RAPHAEL, Janna Baty  -INFANTA, Thomas Meglioranza - MEMPHIS and Jane Sheldon - CYBELE. Also included will be commentary by Donald Crockett and David St. John describing the evolution of the work based on their artistic collaboration. 

 

Wild West Tour - March 2012

Between March 8-19, 2012 Firebird Ensemble performed, recorded and toured a program of new works and Firebird commissions by Eric Moe and Lee Hyla in Boston, Pennsylvania and California. Other featured composers featured on this tour included Thomas Ades, Donald Crockett and Curtis Hughes. In addition Firebird Ensemble undertook educational residencies at University of Pittsburgh, PA and Chapman University, CA presenting master-classes and readings of student works. The project culminated in a commercial recording of works by Eric Moe which was released by New World Records recently.

 The free-spirited Firebird Ensemble celebrated the holidays with  its dramatic presentation of The Passion of the Scrooge, an  entertaining musical setting of Charles Dickens’ classic novel A  Christmas Carol. This vibrant and amusing work brings Dickens’  characters to life in a suspenseful and exciting journey from past to future. Featuring the highly acclaimed baritone Aaron Engebreth as narrator, the Firebird Ensemble captured the spirit of the season while introducing classical music and a classic novel to audiences of all ages. Support for this project has been generously provided by the Free For All Concert Fund

 

Chamber Music America Conference 
January 14th, 2012 Times Square, New York City

Kate Vincent - Director of Firebird Ensemble was featured at the Chamber Music America conference as a guest speaker presenting a session on residency projects with Leonard Matczynski from the Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music. In October Firebird Ensemble was presented with the national 2011 CMAcclaim award by Margaret Lioi (Executive Director of Chamber Music America) in recognition for its exceptional contribution to the field of chamber music in the region.

 

Tenth Anniversary Gala Benefit Concert 

OCTOBER 30th, 6pm at Pickman Auditorium, Longy School of Music 

A special evening of celebration, festivities, fabulous music, silent auction, delicious appetizers and a selection of wines. Specialty items provided by Dave's Fresh Pasta, Formaggio Kitchen, Taza Chocolate and Westport Rivers Vineyard! A featured event at the Gala was the presentation of the national CMAcclaim award to Firebird Ensemble by Margaret Lioi - Chamber Music America (CEO).
