PenelopeComposed by Sarah Kirkland Snider
Soloist - Carla Kihlstedt with Firebird Ensemble Presented by Beth Morrison Projects

Inspired by Homer's epic poem, the Odyssey, Snider's Song Cycle, Penelope is a meditation on memory, identity, and what it means to come home.
Penelope has been described by Pitchfork as "gorgeous...a hauntingly vivid psychological portrait, one that explores a dark scenario with a light, almost quizzical touch, finding poetic resonances everywhere."

Young Audiences of Massachusetts Presents

Throughout Winter/Spring 2015-2016

Eeyore has a Birthday by Jon Deak, is a thrilling and delightful musical setting of A.A.Milne‚Äôs story from the Winnie-the-Pooh series, one of the most delightful literary collections for children. Each instrument plays a role in the story; the ever-mournful Eeyore is personified by the viola; gastronomically oriented Pooh Bear by the double bass; and the eager, bumbling Piglet by the piano.

This program is presented in collaboration with Young Audiences of Massachusetts - dedicated to bringing live music to school children in MA. To book please email: or ph: 617 639 9262

World Premiere to be performed by Talea Ensemble
March 16th, 2016 at Roulette, NYC.

Hagall is an epic work which was completed by Jeffrey Holmes in August of 2015. The project is the result of a collaboration between composer Jeffrey Holmes, commissioning organization JFNMC, Presenter - Firebird Ensemble and Talea Ensemble who will present the World Premiere and record the work.

The title comes from the old Runic word for hail (as in a hailstorm). Hagall is also a dramatic representation of turbulent winter storms and references an "end". The Runic language is also accompanied by ancient poems of unknown or lost origin.

Hail is cold grain,
and shower of sleet,
and sickness of serpents.
